The Sozo Ministries team was blessed to host Abigail (Abby) Good as an intern from mid-August to mid-December. She arrived in Uganda and the next day enjoyed a surprise night at the Maverick City World Tour worship concert in Kampala! This was Abby’s 4th time in Uganda, but this trip gave her a deeper immersive understanding of life and culture here.
Early on, Abby took part in the Youth Ablaze conference alongside Pearl Haven church. She participated as a youth attendee but was also given the opportunity to share her testimony and some encouraging words during one of Scott’s main sessions. Many people, both youth and adults, were blessed by her message. During her time at Youth Ablaze she made friends with some young people, and her gift of counsel and encouragement was further made evident by seeing her intentionality to meet for one-on-one time to chat about life throughout the rest of her time in Uganda.
Throughout her time with Sozo, Abby volunteered at our expat homeschool co-op teaching PE, she visited with the staff and children at Overcomers School many times and taught Sunday school lessons at the Sozo Church in Masiwe on the mountain. Abby also visited and encouraged children at a local children’s home by doing some reading activities with them. She took a morning session at our annual Pastor’s conference in September, and before she left, she also led a session in a village leadership conference in Abim. She was also able to be baptized while in Uganda.
Abby shared that she had felt a calling to do ministry in Africa but did not know exactly what it might look like. During the Sozo Ministries pastors conference, she received some encouraging words of confirmation concerning her hopes for the future. She will be participating in a Youth With A Mission (YWAM) program in Florida to further train and prepare herself for a life of saying “Yes” to the Lord. Please keep Abby in your prayers as God leads her forward.
